The cloud has the general system capability of data analysis and visualization, therefore, it can be customized for each company, user group, project, and use case. Various public or private cloud systems can be used accodring specific needs. Another way of processing data is provided by a device cloud, for example, to visualize data from things (devices) or to use them via the API interface in another application.

How cloud technology and cloud integration works: API interface

You want to connect to your devices, machinery or facilities regardless of their location. And you want to connect to them using the software tools in your work environment, whether it’s a SAP ERP system or cloud technology like aws or Microsoft Azure. To do that your system needs to reach out to our system. This happens through a standardised interface designed to provide interoperability between different computer systems. The interface is called a RESTful API.

On our side of the RESTful API we collect and process measurement and monitoring data from sensors and machinery. The Schildknecht IoT edge gateway pre-processes the data and sends it on to our private device cloud for further processing. The device cloud connects to your system through the RESTful API, sending you the data you need. With this seamless IoT connectivity in place you are ready to unleash the potential of your data, to analyse and visualize it, to perform in-depth monitoring, predictive maintenance, develop new business models and much more.
